Jason brings an entrepreneur's perspective to DCM Ventures through his experience co-founding Sling Media, the DCM Ventures-backed pioneering digital media company that created the Slingbox. Jason’s experience as a successful entrepreneur brings unique first-hand insights and support to his portfolio companies. As Co-Founder of Sling Media, Jason led the establishment of partnerships with global MSOs and mobile operators, as well as the international expansion of the company. At DCM Ventures, Jason focuses on digital media, the “Internet of Things”, and industrial applications of consumer technology, among other themes. Jason’s investments include 1 Mainstream (acquired by Cisco), Basis (acquired by Intel), Cognitive Networks (acquired by VIZIO), Ustream (acquired by IBM), Whistle Labs (acquired by Mars), Arrayent (acquired by Prodea), FiveStars, Life360, Matterport, PlayStudios, Roost, SigFig, Tapingo, fuboTV, Cirrent, Shift, Caavo, Kespry, Ujet, FloSports and Galore.
Prior to Sling Media, Jason was a Partner at id8 Group where he advised leading global brands on product and business strategy focusing on digital media and mobile device platforms. Jason also spent several years at BCG where he advised Fortune 500 clients in the retail, automotive, and utilities sectors.
Jason and his wife are proud alumni of UC Berkeley, and are avid Bears fans. At Berkeley, Jason swam on the nationally-ranked swim team. Jason enjoyed a trip to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he cheered-on his brother Adam who coached the USA Women’s Water Polo Team to the Gold Medal.
